This oak bureau is one of the pieces I recently rescued from a local house clearance after spotting the potential hiding underneath years of wear.

When I first brought it home it was covered in layers of old wax and polish, which had dulled the oak and hidden the beautiful grain. After carefully stripping it back, easing out dents and scratches, and working down to the bones of the piece, the real character of the wood began to show again.

From there I applied a medium oak tone, oiled and waxed to bring it all back to life.

To give it a fresh look for its new home, I finished the base and legs in a heritage olive green, which paired beautifully with the warmth of the oak and gave it that relaxed country rustic / cottagecore feel.
