This Ercol Colonial sideboard arrived looking very tired, under a much darker finish that had hidden much of its natural character. After carefully removing the original dull finish, the original grain and detail have been brought back to life, revealing the warmth and beauty of the yew wood that had been waiting underneath.

This is always one of my favourite stages of a restoration. Watching a piece slowly reappear and reveal what was there all along, rather than simply turning it into something else, is one of the most rewarding parts of the process.
